We spent an amazing two weeks in Florida this past August. I thought the beach might get old after a while, but I was wrong! Waking up and looking at the ocean every morning and being away from all of our responsibilities was a dream! The kids and I loved going down to the ocean every day and swimming in the calm waters. It was hot, but we kept to the ocean and the pool and stayed perfectly cool!
These pictures are a little out of order - we spent the first week with my mom. Ben drove us down and then flew home so he didn't have to take two weeks off work. The kids and I enjoyed our time with Mimi - we went to Sharky's (several times), swam, relaxed and had lots of popcorn and movies. Mimi loves to spoil her grand babies!
Some Akron friends were down in Florida at the same time as us so we met up with them one day for a playdate at the park. It ended up being super hot and a pretty far drive, but it was fun to see our friends for a bit!
One of many walks to Sharky's!
Crab Hunting! We caught a lots of big ones!!
We rented a boat one day with the Wehner family and took it to Shell Island. This was a fun, different activity to do, but I personally could have laid on the beach all day, every day. Shell Island didn't seem to have too many different things than our beach and the boat was definitely pretty pricey for the day.
The kids wanted to do so many of the fun things we saw on the beach and I promised them once daddy got there they could choose. One of the top favorites for everyone was renting these little moped cars and driving them around for the day. We took them to get donuts and shopped around for a bit.
This is the first year the car ride hasn't been a nightmare. The kids are all at pretty good ages to keep themselves entertained and happy. We even made a stop on the way home at Cracker Barrell, like true road trippers should do!
The kids had so much fun playing with their cousin Jacob. I'll never forget how sweet it was to see them all interacting and playing like they were best friends even though we hadn't seen Jacob in a year. My kids welcomed him right into their clan.. there's something special about the bond between cousins!
