We went to Panama City with Ben's family this year for vacation. We had
an awesome time hanging out with family, great weather, got in lots of
relaxing. It was the perfect vacation!
Lucy and Hank slept on the third floor of our house and we were on the first floor. We wanted to sleep in as late as possible (with June still in our room) so we told the big kids they could turn the TV on in their room when they woke up in the morning. They loved it. And apparently, Lucy said this was her favorite part of vacation! Apparently I need to rethink driving all the way to PCB... we just need to let her have a TV in her room for a couple hours. :)
Hank took a long nap on the beach one day. This boy played so hard on vacation, I think he ended up taking at least a short nap almost every day. He was in the pool usually by 9:30am and was swimming up until dinner. I think it's safe to say he had fun! It also helped that the yucky stuff we put on his nails had worn off so he was back to sucking his thumb for the week... made for a happy little sleeper!
Included in the price of our rental home were free passes to two little amusement parks. This mostly included go carts, a couple kiddie rides, and putt-putt, but there were also a couple extreme rides Luke and Matt were able to do for free. This was a huge plus! I think we went 4 different nights and was a fun, free thing for us to do as a family.
June and Jacob had lots of fun playing together. It was so much fun seeing them play together versus last year when they were both just a little over 1. I can't wait to see how these two grow and change over the years as we vacation together!
I should also mention the FitBit challenge we had going on all week, because this was a big part of vacaton. 5 of us had FitBit and decided to do a challenge for the week. Fortunately we are all pretty competitive so this lead to a very active vacation! I think we all enjoyed the friendly competition that kept us moving. For the record, Ben won.... but only by about 900 steps (out of 90,000 that week).
My views one day... June greeting me as I was getting home from a long run. And relaxing on the beach, watching the brothers be brothers. Two things that brought me joy!
June LOVED getting to play with her uncles. Several of them commented how friendly and loving she was all week. And I couldn't agree more! I felt like I barely had to take care of her this week because she almost always preferred to be with one of them. We are lucky to have such great men in our lives who love on our kids so much!
More arcade fun...
The arcade worker said to me- "He's 6 right?" and I responded, "ummm... sure, close enough..." haha. Once the worker realized how old Hank really is and I talked him into still letting him ride, he was pretty impressed with Hank's driving skills. We obviously already knew how awesome he is... driving racecars is definitely one of Hank's strengths.
For the most part Hank was pretty nervous about most of the kiddie rides. He also didn't love the go carts that he could ride with the adults because they were a little loud and a little crazy (it was a wooden track that went up and down kind of like a roller coaster). He did get the nerve up to do this roller coaster with Lucy, but both of their faces say it all...
Haha. The worker actually stopped the ride after the first time around because he said they looked so scared. But for some reason they both said they wanted to keep going!
This is the second time around... they warmed up a little, but still mostly look terrified!
Matt and Luke, our vacation dare devils took advantage of the free extreme rides... All of the kids (and we moms) could barely watch! But the boys seemed to brave the rides no problem!
And these last few pictures show the bulk of what we did on vacation: swimming in the pool and going to the beach. My two favorite past times!
This kid would cautiously get in the pool at the beginning of the week and avoid putting his head in... but was doing full on cannonballs by the end of our stay. He LOVED the pool!
Brothers beach picture... but we forgot to get it until Luke had already left... woops! Next year we'll get him in it!
And a view video highlights...
