Lake Weekend

 A few weekends ago we were lucky enough to get to spend the weekend at two different lakes.  We have some pretty awesome friends.  Originally we were invited to our friend's, the Elliot's, cabin and we were looking for a way to split up the drive.  When I asked Katy if we could do a mid-week trip to Wawasee since it was a good mid-way point, she obliged and our schedules aligned to have two fun-filled, lake-filled trips. 

A few highlights from wawasee...

It was pretty cold most of our stay, but we found ways to stay entertained, like doing puzzles and eating lots of food! We did swim a bit... and by we I mean Ben and Katy.  Lucy asked Katy to go tubing with her, so I took that opportunity to stay huddled warm in the boat.

Next up we traveled north to Pentwater, Michigan.  We had never been to Pentwater but we fell in love instantly.  The view from the cabin is gorgeous.  The home is on a lake with a canal that connects to lake Michigan and the town is adorable.  It was like beautiful!

 Luckily the weather turned and we had a couple days of sunshine that we fully enjoyed!

Saturday morning we drove in to town, played at the beach a bit and then got ice cream.  

Saturday night we went to a "Fish Boil" which was a really fun, yummy way to dine at a farm with a story, an explosion and some good food. 

The kids were both kind of apprehensive on the boat when we started the week.  But Lucy especially seemed to warm up very fast.  In fact, so fast that we thought we'd try skiing with her and she obliged.  Unfortunately I think we started the boat up too fast and it freaked her out a bit.  She vowed to never go skiing again, but I'm hoping she'll change her mind next year!  I am so proud of her for even trying though... she is such a brave girl!
